Pursuant to Section 3.59 of the Listing Requirements, the Board of Directors of Zanaco Plc (“the Board”) wishes to announce the appointment of Mr. Owen Silavwe as a Director of the Board effective 30th July, 2024.

Mr. Silavwe is the current Managing Director of Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) and has been in the role since 2014. He is an Executive Director of the CEC Board and sits on the Executive and the Remuneration and Employee Development Committees. Prior to his role as Managing Director, he served as Commercial Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Company. He has over 27 years’ experience in the development, financing and management of infrastructure businesses, and operation of energy markets. He has made significant contributions to the business transformation at CEC and has overall demonstrated a strong track record of performance in the various roles he has held.

Mr. Silavwe has previously served on the Absa Zambia and the Hai Telecoms Boards as a Non-Executive Director and he currently chairs the boards of CECDRC and CEC Renewables.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Electrical Power Engineering as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Zambia and a fellow of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).

The Board would like to congratulate Mr. Silavwe on his appointment and looks forward to his contribution to the Company.
